• Wedding, 1927, Lethbridge, ALBERTA. 111 ELIZABETH ESTHER CALDWELL & JAMES WILLIAMSON: COUPLE CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING: From Jarvis Record, issue JR, February 10, 1927: copied from The Herald, Lethbridge, Alberta: Many and varied are the occasions when families rejoice, but seldom are they privileged to celebrate with dear ones a "Golden Wedding Anniversary." On Monday, January 17th, 1927, Mr. & Mrs. James Williamson, Aberdeen Apartments, had reached that gala day. Until just over a year ago, both were in splendid health, when Mr. Williamson had the misfortunate of breaking his leg, and then three months later, Mrs. Williamson fell & broke her arm. Since that time they have been in poor health but were given renewed strength on Monday to celebrate their 50 years of married life together. They were married in Haldimand County, residing on the farm (which was the bride's birth place) now occupied by George Easton, cornering the Stone Church, and not in the days of good roads and automobiles. It is interesting to hear Mr. Williamson tell their experiences of the bridal party on account of the drifted side roads. Their union was blessed with 5 children, three of them still living. Two sons in Vancouver, B.C., and D.S., who is in business here (*Lethridge), also an adopted daughter, living in Lajord, Saskatchewan. During the afternoon, many of their kind friends called to offer their congratulations and spend a social hour. Expressions of love were shown in beautiful flowers and other gifts. Many letters, cards and telegrams were received during the day from distant friends, who were absent in person, but who remembered this old couple. Rev. Mr. Faichney called at the home during the evening. His message was an inspiration to all - the hope that this couple might be spared to see many more anniversaries.
