• Funeral, 1923, Hagersville, ONTARIO. 30 THE DEATH OF MRS. JOHN T. BELL: OBITUARY: The death occurred in Hagersville on Monday, February 12th, 1923, of Maria Williamson, wife of Mr. John T. Bell, Howard Street, in her 64th year. The deceased suffered a paralytic stroke on January 30th, but was thought to be recovering from its effects. A second stroke followed on Sunday last, her death occurring on the following Monday morning. Besides a sorrowing husband, she leaves one son and two daughters to mourn the loss of a loving mother. They are Frank and Mary of Toronto, and Olive of the Union Bank Staff, Hagersville. The late Mrs. Bell possessed a wide circle of friends, having always taken an active part in church and social affairs. In religion she was a Presbyterian, being a consistent and valued member of St. Andrew's Church, Hagersville, in which she held the following offices at the time of her death. Superintendent of Cradle Roll, Teacher of Primary Class, President of Women's Missionary Society. The funeral took place on Wednesday, February 14th, services being held at the home and interment at Chalmer's Stone Church Cemetery, Walpole. Her pastor, Rev. J. M. Whitelaw, conducted the services. He spoke from the two Bible Promises - "Be Thou Faithful Unto Death and I Will Give Thee a Crown of Life," and "Well Done Good and Faithful Servant, Enter Thou Into the Joy of Thy Lord." The choir of St. Andrew's Church assisted in the services, rendering the anthem, "Thy Way O Lord is Death." The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful and were received from the following: Union Bank, Hagersville; Eastern Executive Committee of Union Bank, Toronto; Gutta Percha, Ontario Division, Toronto; Gutta Percha Ontario Division Girls' Club, Toronto; Mr. & Mrs. J. Warder Shaw, Toronto; Mr. & Mrs. J. Williamson, Toronto; Mr. & Mrs. Anguish, Brantford; Misses Simon, Brantford; Mr. & Mrs. Sherk, Selkirk; Mr. & Mrs. Charles Brown, Hagersville; Miss Lenora Henry, Toronto; Mr. & Mrs. D. Keen, Hagersville; Presbyterian Ladies Aid and Mission Circle, St. Andrew's Sunday School Class and Primary Class. Friends were present from Pittsburg, Toronto, Brantford and Simcoe.
